Jewellery Care

Life is unpredictable, and jewellery incidents are part of the journey. Whatever the situation, I'm here to help and can address the most common issues. Feel free to reach out for assistance.

In the meantime, I've put together some helpful tips to assist your pieces in standing the test of time.

GENERAL CARE AND KEEPING

Remove jewellery when bathing, exercising, sleeping, or cleaning. Always avoid excess moisture, and remember to store your pieces properly in an airtight container when you aren't wearing them. It is normal for metal to oxidise (or change colour) with time and exposure to the elements, but contact with liquid or other substances can accelerate this process.

STERLING SILVER

It's advisable to avoid leaving your jewellery, especially sterling silver pieces, exposed to air for extended periods, as this can lead to the development of tarnish. Tarnishing is a natural process that causes a change in the colour of silver and other precious metals, occurring over time due to exposure to factors like perspiration, skin acids, oils, cosmetics, and hydrogen sulphide gas present in the air.

To prevent tarnish, it's essential to regularly clean your jewellery using a soft cloth. After wearing each piece, we recommend a swift cleaning before storing it.

To preserve the aesthetic appeal of your jewellery, store it in the provided soft pouch when not in use.

BRASS

All jewellery made in brass holds wear and can hold its lustre for years with appropriate care. Brass naturally develops a patina over time. I see this as part of its charm and character, something to embrace as your piece evolves with you.

But if you prefer to bring back its original shine, it’s easy to do.

Here are a few tips:

– Use a standard metal polish like Brasso (my favourite) or Maas
– Gently rub the polish onto the brass with a microfibre cloth, then rinse it off with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.

That’s it! Good as new, or beautifully aged. Your choice.

Different people have varying reactions to this type of metal. It is a chemical reaction to your particular skin, lotions, moisture (even sweat!) and/or other environmental factors. To slow down the tarnishing of you brass jewellery, keep your brass pieces away from moisture, and store them properly in an airtight container when you aren't wearing them.

GEMSTONES

All of our gemstones are high-quality natural or lab created, they can be delicate and broken if not cared for correctly.

If you notice any looseness, we recommend pausing wear and getting in touch so we can help tighten or secure it. Occasionally, a stone may come loose or fall out. This is rare, but it can happen, especially with our cast-in-place technique which prioritises artistry over perfection.

If that happens, you have options: we’re happy to help repair it, or you may choose to embrace the imperfection as part of your piece’s evolution.

I'm here either way to discuss what is possible :) Just reach out xx
